Melissa Aguilar, Executive Director
Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board
The Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board (KWIB) serves as an advisory board to the Governor on workforce training and development issues. They are charged with creating a statewide vision for workforce development and adopt a plan to move Kentucky forward through workforce training and development.
Several months ago, KWIB asked employers to complete a survey of industry recognized credentials which may be obtained at the high school level, wanting to ensure these credentials were recognized by industry professionals and paired to high demand occupations within each industry. KWIB anticipates most of the credentials will make the student more career ready upon completion.
KWIB encourages industry leaders to engage in your local high schools and Tech Center to work with students who are obtaining these credentials. They are our future workforce supply chain. KWIB also encourage business to provide any type of work based learning opportunity you can for our students. It helps them gain real world experience and tie text book knowledge to gain a different perspective on their goals. To learn more, please plan on attending our July 16th Teachers Academy Luncheon at the Capital Plaza Hotel.
If you are interested in learning more or providing a work based learning experience, please contact me at your convenience!
