SUMMARY:Joan Osborne at the Grand Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Joan Osborne Acoustic Trio\n\nThe Joan Osborne Trio\, led by the acclaimed singer-songwriter and Louisville native\, will perform the works of Bob Dylan .\n\n A seven-time Grammy nominee and multi-platinum artist\, Osborne is one of the great voices of her generation and has collaborated with performers as diverse as Luciano Pavarotti\, Stevie Wonder\, Emmylou Harris\, and recent Grand performer Taj Mahal.\n\n Another musical influence is the focus of her current show\, a tribute to the legendary Bob Dylan. The show evolves from a critically acclaimed engagement earlier this year at the Caf Carlyle in New York City dedicated to the work of Dylan. In her Frankfort appearance\, Osborne will be joined by keyboardist Keith Cotton and guitarist Jack Petruzzelli.\n\n Osborne grew up in Anchorage outside Louisville and moved to New York City in the late 1980s to attend New York University's famed film school. But she soon became involved in the active local music scene. From the early 1990s through the 2000s\, Osborne maintained an active recording career while drawing a devoted fan base for her live performances.\n\n "I'm getting better at what I do\," Osborne says in a press release. "I have an audience that I've built up over time\, and I feel like they're with me. And because of that\, I don't feel any pressure to fit myself into anyone else's idea of what I should be doing."\n\n Osborne is perhaps best known for her searing live performances in the Grammy Award-winning documentary "Standing in the Shadows of Motown\," devoted to the legendary Motown session band The Funk Brothers. Osborne also scored a hit with "One of Us" from her debut major-label album "Relish." In one recent album\, "Bring It On Home\," Osborne tackles classic songs from performers as diverse as Al Green\, Ray Charles and Muddy Waters.\n\n Her most recent album is entitled "Love and Hate." "I feel like each song on this album talks about a different aspect of love\," Osborne said. "Love isn't just one thing\; it encompasses faith\, passion\, power struggles\, humor\, anguish\, spirituality\, lust\, anger\, everything on that spectrum."\n\n Sponsored by Kentucky Monthly
