Join Patrick Lewis as he discusses the Kentucky Historical Society’s Civil War Governors of Kentucky Digital Documentary Edition. This annotated, searchable, and freely-accessible online database houses documents associated with the chief executives of the state of Kentucky during the years 1860-1865—three Union governors; Beriah Magoffin, James F. Robinson, and Thomas E. Bramlette, and the two provisional Confederate governors; George W. Johnson and Richard Hawes. Lewis will demonstrate the website (http://www.civilwargovernors.org) and discuss its benefits for history researchers.

Patrick Lewis is Director of the Civil War Governors of Kentucky Digital Documentary Edition at the Kentucky Historical Society. He is a Kentucky native and graduate of Transylvania University. He received his Ph.D. in history from the University of Kentucky. Lewis is a seasoned public historian, having worked for the National Park Service and served on the project team for the KHS HistoryMobile Civil War exhibit.
