Description
today! On November 16, 2021 we are holding our annual Kristara’s Day at Berry Hill Mansion in Frankfort, KY from 6-8pm. This is a day that Mayor Layne Wilkerson proclaimed and recognized, in support of our organization’s fight against substance abuse among single mothers. Frankfort residents are encouraged to come together and build awareness around this issue, and commemorate the impact a Frankfort mother, Kristara Bell Amey, had on Strengthening Transformations Incorporated's dedication of service to this issue. Kristara's struggle with substance abuse inspired us to help others recognize that addiction is a disease, advocate for single mothers who were or are just like Kristara, and provide an avenue of support. Our Kristara’s Day event will be the chance to honor loved ones who lost their lives due to their substance abuse struggles, or who are currently still in the fight against their addiction. In addition to a program consisting of experts speaking on addiction awareness, uplifting musical performances and food, two awards will be given to individuals currently in recovery with a mission now to help others. Organizations who specialize in addiction, substance abuse and recovery will be encouraged to be vendors and provide additional resources. Wearable memorabilia of loved ones is encouraged, along with use of the hashtag #KristarasDay to share support on social media.
