Phillip Seyfrit, former Director of the Richmond Battlefield site, will present a program on the Battle of Richmond, Kentucky fought on August 29, 1862. The Confederate Army, led by General Kirby Smith, destroyed the Union Army under the command of General Bull Nelson during this battle. The defeat of the Union Army cleared the way for General Smith’s Confederate troops to capture Frankfort. This free event will take place in the Library Community Room and is sponsored by the Frankfort Civil War Roundtable, Capital City Museum, and PSPL.
