VIrtual Event - Zoom
Free - donations welcome!
2020 has been a year of commemoration, marking 100 years since the passage of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. As we close out this season, join us via Zoom* as Dr. Melanie Beals Goan shares deeper insights into the battle for women’s suffrage in the Commonwealth. As her research reveals, in Kentucky, “women’s suffrage was not simply a question of whether women could and should vote; it carried more serious implications for white supremacy and for the balance of federal and state powers — especially in a border state.” In addition to well-known activists such as Laura Clay and Madeline McDowell Breckinridge, Goan will introduce “individuals across the Bluegrass State who did their part to move the nation closer to achieving its founding ideals.” Come and join the virtual conversation! Please register here, and you will receive information on how to connect. The registration deadline is 10 am on the day of the event. Questions?
